Spotlight: Maher Oueida, General Education

One of our newer faculty members comes to us by way of our high school, AURA, where he is also an instructor. Originally, his family hails from the Middle East, which perhaps gives him his global perspective. According to his faculty biography:
Maher Oueida holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Affairs from the University of California, Riverside, and a master’s degree in Public and International Affairs with a focus on Security Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. His experience includes collaborating with the United States Space Force to identify threats to American security in air and space, as well as partnering with the Department of State to develop diplomatic engagement strategies for Central Asia through the C5+1 platform.
Maher tells us that:
“I value education, and ensuring that all of my students receive one of quality. I make sure that my students understand that I don’t teach to satisfy some standards. Instead, I look to instill students with the means to become experts and leaders in whichever field they choose to pursue. I joined AUHS because I see the great work the university is doing, and want to play a role today in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.”
