AUHS and College Medical Center Host 9th Annual Behavioral Health Symposium
By Barbara Cook-Strong, Student Services Coordinator
American University of Health Sciences (AUHS), in partnership with College Medical Center, hosted the 9th Annual Behavioral Health Symposium on July 31, 2026. The annual event brought together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and advocates to raise awareness, share expertise, and explore practical solutions for individuals and families affected by mental health challenges.
This year’s distinguished speakers included Dr. Byron L. Smith, Clinical Therapist; Dr. Michael Tolwin of Tolwin Psychiatric Medical Group, Inc.; Smit Ghandi of Interface Rehab, Inc.; and keynote speaker Manny Enriquez, Senior Director of Contracting at Blue Shield of California. Together, they contributed valuable perspectives on behavioral health and the importance of collaboration in strengthening care and support within our communities.
Behavioral health continues to be an important challenge in our communities, but events such as this remind us that meaningful change is possible when professionals, organizations, and community members work together. AUHS remains committed to advancing awareness, encouraging collaboration, and helping create lasting solutions in mental health (SIMH) for the communities we serve.
