Student Profile: Ghadeer Hamieh
For Ghadeer Hamieh, earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from American University of Health Sciences represents both the culmination of years of education and the fulfillment of a dream that began when she chose nursing at the age of 18.
Hamieh graduated from the AUHS Doctor of Nursing Practice program in Population Health and Leadership with highest distinction. Her connection with AUHS began earlier in her academic journey, when she also completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the university.
Completing the accelerated DNP program required approximately 15 months of concentrated study. At graduation, Hamieh expressed particular gratitude to the family members who supported her throughout that demanding journey.
“Big thanks to my family who supported me in this journey,” she said. She especially thanked her mother and father, who continually encouraged her to continue her education and pursue her dreams.
That encouragement helped sustain a journey in nursing education that began many years earlier. As she celebrated receiving her doctorate, Hamieh reflected not only on what she had accomplished but also on the young woman who first decided to enter the nursing profession.
“I want to dedicate this success to myself when I was 18 years old,” she said. Looking back at that younger version of herself, Hamieh had a simple message: “I’m so proud of you.”
After completing both her MSN and DNP at AUHS, Hamieh said her immediate plan is to give herself some well-earned time to rest after spending so many years pursuing her education.
Her graduation marks an important milestone in a journey characterized by persistence, family encouragement, and a continuing commitment to nursing. From the decision she made at 18 to pursue the profession to walking across the graduation stage with her doctorate, Hamieh’s achievement reflects the value of continuing to pursue a dream—even when reaching it requires years of work.
For Hamieh, the occasion was more than the completion of another degree. It was an opportunity to honor her family, celebrate how far she has come, and recognize the determination of the young nursing student who began the journey.
